Mini-Workshop with MeRa Koh - You CAN'T Miss It!

If you own a camera - if you are within 60 miles of Costa Mesa - heck, if you can fog a mirror you NEED to be at the Sony Style Store this Wednesday night to hear the lovely and talented Me Ra Koh give a mini workshop about photography and the new Sony Alpha Cameras. She has done a DVD for Sony about photography, and has her own fantastic DVDs on her website for sale too - they're GREAT stocking stuffers!

She's speaking from 6-7:30, and I suggest you get there early so you're not standing in the back.

Me Ra is one of my best friends, and is a Sony Icon - they even created a copper-brown camera with a pink interface ESPECIALLY FOR HER!! You can check it out here. Also, check out Me Ra's website to read about how she inspiries women each and every day. Click HERE to go to www.merakoh.com.

Have your husband take care of the kids for a couple of hours - you certainly won't regret it! And there's even a Rainforest Cafe there at South Coast Plaza for the kids.

So - I'll see you on Wednesday, right? You can BET I'll be there!

October Canvas of the Month - TAPLOW

This is one of the most powerful images I've seen - just amazing.

This is one of the most powerful images I've ever seen. It was taken for an anniversary present from his owners' husband to his lovely wife. Stephen Grant of Stephen Grant Photography in Los Angeles spent the morning with Taplow and his owner using his Canon 5-D with a 24-70mm lens, natural light.

Here's a little writeup from Taplow's owner: "This photograph is of Taplow, show name Harvest Moon, a retired 24-year-old Thoroughbred show gelding. A bold and courageous athlete, he easily cleared 5'6" jumps. Riding him around a course has been described as jumping a rocket. Although quite friendly, he could also be arrogant. He would not deign to lift his legs high enough to clear low fences, knocking down the offending obstacles. Give him a jumping effort worthy of him, though, and he would sail over it effortlessly."

Thank you SO much for sharing this image with us Stephen! He's deciding on his prize right now - $50 in Canvas Credit, a $50 Visa Gift Card, or an iPod Shuffle (old school...)

And for those of you who wonder why it's the OCTOBER Canvas of the Month and not November, it's because we haven't seen all of November's canvases yet!

CRAZY Cool Underwater Shoot!

About a year and a half ago, (April 24th to be exact) I posted about one of our customers having his OWN display in the Dreamworks Animation Studios Starbucks shop. Yes, Dreamworks has its own Starbucks. Wouldn't YOU if you could? HECK YEA! *snerk* You can find that post here.

Fast forward to last month, and we're in the backyard pool of David Hoffman - animator and photographer extraordinaire!

Here's Bevan being my SuperHero boy!!!

His website is Light On Kids - and while he does GORGEOUS above ground photography as well, I'm going to brag on one of his latest underwater shoots - featuring, of course, my twins Bevan & April!

Working with David was just SO much fun - he's got the most incredible underwater rig you've even seen - I'm sure Jacques Cousteau would be jealous! He's so encouraging, and directs the kids so gently -they just felt like they were playing! The kids had SO much fun playing underwater in their costumes, and even RIDING A SCOOTER UNDERWATER - how cool is that? We didn't even tell April to do the foot pop - she did that on her own. Now WHERE does she inherit moxy like that? I wonder.... *snerk*

Now, being a canvas and fine art printer, you'd think that my house would be LOUSY with canvases. Nope! It's the age-old problem of the cobbler's children having no shoes! Well, with this shoot, things are going to change! Here's one of my FAVS - and you can be it's going to be BIG!

If you are ever near Valencia, CA (near Magic Mountain) or want to fly this guy out to YOUR pool, I highly recommend it. Please - go to his site, and leave him some love.

Oh - now that he's done with a little flick called Kung Foo Panda, he's working on Shrek 4 - you can bet we'll be there! SKADOOSH!

It's the Pixel2Canvas Garage Sale!

Things are really changing over here at P2C. We’ve been hiring new staff like crazy to keep up with the orders and the new products coming your way. We’re also getting ready to overhaul our website just like the 78 camaro sitting under the tarp in the garage.

So we’ve been getting ready for all these changes, new website, new products, new people, and we realize that we have a garage full of stuff that we need to clear out to get ready for the new stuff. So for a VERY limited time, we’re putting all the stuff in the garage up for sale at haul it off prices.

Yes, this is all good stuff. And no, these really aren’t canvases that we found in the garage, but you get the idea.

Included in the sale are specific sizes in both Legacy and Luxe. Additionally, we’ve got a VERY LIMITED release of some of our new products which you won’t even know about until our new site comes online later this month. (Hint: Aluminum is involved with one of them...)

But here’s the catch. Once the limited amount of each product is gone, they will disappear from the garage. You will find everything from 8x10 standard wraps and mini-masterpieces to a couple of 40x60 BIG Canvas prints. Once they are gone…they are gone. NO RAIN CHECKS!

So, for this VERY LIMITED TIME….CLICK HERE and log into P2C and go to the SPECIAL PRODUCTS PAGE. Certainly to start there will be a great selection, so come early…but as these garage sale products move out the door…they will be gone for good.

AND YES - AS ALWAYS - You can order using a placeholder. Right click on the garage sale graphic here, and upload it in place of an image to print. Then, when you've got your images ready, email them to us with your order number. Can't get much easier than THAT!

And this time next month, who knows, maybe I’ll pull the tarp off that 78 Camaro Type LT and get that sucker running again.

..........and did I mention our website's new look and CRAZY COOL interface coming soon? Be prepared!

If It's Friday, It Must Be FROSTINGS!

I have a new addiction - one that I'm HOPING will pass soon. CUPCAKES!

Yes, it started with Sprinkles. VERY good, but kinda out of the way for me. Not that I MIND a reason to trek into Newport Beach mind you - I grew up there. BUT...

Now there is FROSTINGS Cupcakery in Lake Forest -about 1 mile from my shop. I will KILL my hair dresser, CJ later - she's the one who informed me of this den of iniquity - or den of deliciousness, whichever you prefer.

Anyhoo -I buy lunch for my employees every Friday, and today I thought I'd splurge and get these too. YUM.

Happy Frostings Friday everyone! If you're in town, here's how you find them:

The Great Frame Up Sale!

Part of the reason that P2C has been successful has been our desire to help educate our customers about the coolness of canvas. We and our competitors make the point all the time about how you are saving money because you don't need to buy a frame for your new artwork. But you know what, some people out there just don't see it as artwork if it’s NOT in a frame.

So we feel it's time that you got the look of a canvas in a frame. So our Great Frame Up Special is this:

A 16x20 or 16x24 Gallery Wrapped (1.5”) canvas with an 11x14 or 12x18 STANDARD wrap (3/4”) all for a totally awesome price! We will even throw in a set of "Canvas Clips" which you will use to put your Standard Wrap (3/4”) canvas in your favorite frame.

To order, log in to Pixel2Canvas, go to the Order Tab, then choose Special Products. Choose ONE Item A, and ONE Item B – it’s a combo ya see. The images DO NOT have to be the same, and you do not need your logo on them. AND YES – as always – you can order with a placeholder image and email us your images later. (you can right-click on the image here and upload that if you wish).

So get busy! Email or call your customers and tell them you’re having a sale, and they can FINALLY get that canvas they’ve wanted, in the type of frame they want.

We think that once you pick out a frame at your local frame store or retail design store (Aarons, Jo Ann, Michaels, Hobby Lobby) and pop your canvas in, you'll see that there is a whole new opportunity for you to start selling canvas (and perhaps even customer framing). No matts, no glass, just a great looking canvas framed to perfectly match your decor!

August Canvas Of The Month - Linda Berman

Congrats to Linda Berman of Linda Berman Photography! Her image of Kramer Corners was surreal, artistic and just crazy cool. PLEASE do yourself a favor and click on the image to view it larger - it's just too neat not to!

Here's what Linda had to say when I asked her about this shot:

Hi Roxanne,
I'm so happy that you liked the image I took of Kramer Junction. The gentlemen that own the garage were generous in letting me photograph their fascinating collection of cars, old gas pumps and fabulous retro signs. Their Antique Store and Garage are located at Kramer Junction on hwy 395 and if you're headed up to Mammoth or the Sierras it is definitely worth a stop. The photograph was taken using the HDR (high dynamic range.) This process gives the photograph an illustrative quality. If you'd like to see more of my cars and other work my website address is: www.lindabermanphotography.com But be aware that it's still under construction, so if anyone would like to leave comments you can email me at: eyecandyfactory@ao.com
Thanks for the Award!
Linda Berman

People - you MUST check out the wicked cars on her site - amazing stuff! Thanks for sharing your talent with us Linda!

I like to see a man proud of the place in which he lives.

I like to see a man live so that his place will be proud of him.

- Quote by Abraham Lincoln

We here at P2C are FERVENT supporters of those who risk their lives in order to protect our freedoms. That's why we initially asked Jessica if we could offer a smaller version of her template, which she very graciously agreed to. We have offered this for free to those whose loved ones paid the ultimate price in protecting us, and will continue this tradition with our new canvas starting in October.

Pray for Peace,
Roxanne and the P2C Crew
